Destiny's Child To Reunite At Superbowl Halftime Show

The world’s most celebrated diva and new mom, Beyonce Knowles, will reunite with her former Destiny’s Child bandmates, Michelle Williams and Kelly Rowland at the 2013 Superbowl Halftime show.

Of course Queen B will still have her solo time to shine, but part way through she will be joined by Rowland and Williams for a Destiny’s Child reunion. Not only will they perform some of their older Destiny’s Child hits, fingers crossed for Survivor and Bootylicious, but will likely debut their brand new song, Nuclear. According to US Weekly, Williams and Rowland will then exit the stage and leave Beyonce to finish up with her newest solo single. This will be the trio’s first song together since the group disbanded in 2006 and first original new song in more than eight years.

While Beyonce is without a doubt the most famous member of Destiny’s Child, Williams and Rowland haven’t just been idly sitting by. Kelly Rowland has released a few solo albums of her own and  has collaborated with the likes of French DJ David Guetta. Rowland made her silver screen debut in Freddy vs. Jason and has since landed roles in The Seat Filler and Think Like A Man. Rowland also dabbles in reality television. She hosted Bravo’s The Fashion Show, was a judge on the X Factor (UK), and dance master on Australia’s Everybody Dance Now. Michelle Williams, not to be confused with this Michelle Williams, is most famous for her post-Destiny’s Child gospel albums. She’s also had a successful television, theater, and Broadway career. She debuted on Broadway in Aidia, and has since starred in The Color Purple and Chicago.

Beyonce revealed the trio’s plan for a new song and album on her website yesterday. She wrote “I am so proud to announce the first original Destiny’s Child music in eight years!,” along with a link to pre-order the new album.

With boy bands, (One Direction, The Wanted )on the rise again, it’s no surprise that girl bands are making a comeback too. Perhaps this Destiny’s Child’s reunion will inspire other female music groups to make a comeback…I’m looking at you, Spice Girls.

Is One Direction’s mega fame to thank for a Destiny’s Child reunion?
