Gory New 'Evil Dead' Red-Band Trailer Drops

A new red-band trailer has dropped for the heavily anticipated Evil Dead remake, promising everything you’d expect from a film that has been marketed as “the most terrifying film you will ever experience.”

When Sam Raimi and Bruce Campbell announced they would be remaking the film that put them on the map — 1981’s Evil Dead — horror film fanatics were understandably upset. Then came the first red-band trailer, surprisingly delivering on the talk provided by Bruce Campbell.

This second red-band trailer is no different. It demonstrates how Evil Dead promises to rehash on the old gimmicks: the body in the cellar, the unforgettable tree and new ways to use power tools. As if that wasn’t enough, there’s also blood vomit, knives slicing through tongues, and something going on with an eyelash that seems too horrible to put into words.

It’s quite understandable how Campbell and Raimi know to release a succession of red-band trailers. The duo are no strangers to the horror genre and know what audiences want to divulge in nowadays, for better or worse. However, it’s refreshing to see that the new Evil Dead is more than just teenagers dying in a location that doesn’t matter for a reason that’s quite laughable. Director Fede Alvarez is — rather awesomely — genuinely trying to scare his audience. Needless to say, we can’t wait to see the finished product.

Directed Alvarez and starring Jane Levy, Shiloh Fernandez and Jessica Lucas, Evil Dead hits theaters on April 12. Until then, try to enjoy the trailer below (if possible). Be warned, this trailer is definitely not safe for work.
