Halle Berry to Receive Special Recognition at 2013 BET Honors Awards

There’s finally some good news for Halle Berry, as she will be recognized at the 2013 BET Honors Awards. The BET Honors Awards acknowledges African American performers, artists and educators in top levels in the fields of music, literature, entertainment, education and more. The Academy Award winning actress will be honored for her contribution and success in the entertainment and film industry.

Along with Berry, legendary R&B singer Chaka Khan; basketball star Lisa Leslie; and world-reknown preacher T.D. Jakes will be among those recognized for their exceptional contributions as well. Gabrielle Union is set to host the 2013 BET Honors Awards, which will air on February 11.

During this year’s award ceremony, First Lady Michelle Obama participated by presented Maya Angelou with her ‘Honors Award’. No word on whether the First Lady will participate in next year’s production.

It seems like this year is ending on a good note despite the Thanksgiving day brawl that put her name back on the front pages of magazines everywhere. Over the holiday, Halle Berry’s new fiance Olivier Martinez put his skill as trained boxer to use on Gabriel Aubry’s face after an argument over moving Berry’s daughter Nahla to France permanently. France is Martinez’s native country and he wanted his soon-to-be new family to relocate there. A judge ruled in Aubrey’s favor, banning the couple from relocating Nahla to France.
