Claire Danes and Hugh Dancy became proud parents to a bouncing baby boy last Monday, December 17th. In typical celebrity fashion, the husband and wife gave their son an unusual first name – Cyrus Michael Christopher Dancy.
I can’t help but wonder if the couple are really big Miley fans, or if there is some other story behind the baby’s first name. Cyrus is nowhere near as weird as Apple or Bear, in fact I’d be in full support if this had happened pre-Miley head shaving. Regardless of the name, baby Cyrus is sure to be a dashing and talented young man with parents like Claire Danes and Hugh Dancy.
According to Us Weekly, Danes and Dancy met on the set of Evening in 2006. While their movie wasn’t a hit, their relationship took off. The couple wed in 2009. British actor, Dancy, is most famous for his role in Black Hawk Down, Confessions of a Shopaholic, Martha Marcy May Marlene and his recurring role on The Big C. Danes has been America’s sweetheart for the last 15 years. She made her debut in My So-Called Life in 1994 and has continued with hits like Baz Luhrman’s Romeo + Juliet, critically acclaimed Temple Grandin, and currently wins nearly every award for her portrayal as CIA agent Carrie Mathison in Showtime’s Homeland. While I’m usually very wary of most Hollywood couples, this one seems genuine and might actually last (knock on wood). The couple typically keeps their relationship very private, but the world was glad to hear mum, dad, and new baby boy are healthy and happy.
All the best to the newly expanded family! Now, if only Homeland characters Nick Brody (Damian Lewis) and Carrie Mathison (Danes) had a baby- now that would be one messed up genius ginger child.
