Disney sunk hundreds of millions into Tron: Legacy and got a good-but-not-great box office take and a tepid critical response for their trouble. This makes the property something that we call “not quite a safe bet.” But it was either continue with an established brand or do something original, so the Mouse House is pushing forward with Tron 3, or whatever it will be called. Apparently Alan Horn, the new head of the studio, has a soft spot for it.
Legacy director Joseph Kosinski is attached to direct this installment as well. A new draft of the script is being written by Jesse Wigutow, who also worked on Eragon and the remake of The Crow. Well if that isn’t a reason to get excited for this movie, I don’t know what is!
