Deadline.com released just the latest trailer for A Glimpse Inside The Mind of Charles Swan III, starring Charlie Sheen, Jason Schwartzman, Bill Murray, Patricia Arquette, and Aubrey Plaza.
It’s clear from the trailer this movie was crafted by the man on tiger’s blood himself, Charlie Sheen. A Glimpse Inside The Mind of Charles Swan III follows wildly successful graphic designer and womanizer, Charles Swan (Sheen), as he tries to mend his broken heart after his latest squeeze, Ivana (Katheryn Winnick), storms out. In addition to your standard “girl-leaves-guy, guy-wants-girl-back” love story, Sheen takes viewers on a ridiculous adventure blurring the line between reality and imagination.
Overall, it seems like a pretty typical indie movie, especially for the likes of Bill Murray and Jason Schwartzman, who are known for their off the beaten path indie flicks like The Darjeeling Limited, Life Aquatic, and most recently, Moonrise Kingdom. In watching what was supposed to be an original idea, the trailer seemed like something I’ve seen before and despite the surreal scenarios and quirky characters, I wasn’t left feeling compelled to see it in theaters.
Perhaps my apprehension in liking A Glimpse Inside The Mind of Charles Swan III stems from Charlie Sheen. I’ve steered clear of anything he puts his name on since his Two and a Half Men rampage in 2011. Aside from the Sheen factor, the rest of the cast has proven their comedic talent and leads me to consider that maybe there’s more to the film than the addled mind of a self-proclaimed warlock. Hopefully there is a lot more to A Glimpse Inside The Mind of Charles Swan III than the trailer lets on, or fans might be sorely disappointed…and slightly bored.
