Comedy Central’s Key & Peele just received news that their show will be returning for a third season. Key & Peele’s audience exploded in the second season, with sketches drawing nearly 40 million views online. It was announced today by Kent Alterman, Head of Orignial Programming and Production at Comedy Central, that they will be ordering 13 more episodes. “Since Obama won re-election, it only seems fair that we would give Key & Peele another season.” said Alterman.
Key & Peele was a breakout hit for Comedy Central since it’s launch back in January of this year. The show is best known for its sketch of President Obama’s “anger translator” Luther, a sketch online that gained one million views in only 36 hours.
Key & Peele responded to Comedy Central by saying, “we are so thrilled about the pickup and want to thank Comedy Central for four more years! Oh wait, what’s that? One more year? Oh…ok, that will work too.”
Keegan-Michael Key and Jordan Peele, executive produces the show along side Ian Roberts, Jay Martel and Joe Zadak.
Key & Peele’s season 2 finale airs Wednesday, November 28, at 10:30 p.m. ET/PT.
