Korean sensation Psy took the stage at the American Music Awards and this time, he was accompanied by MC Hammer. Psy initially took the stage on his own with a crowd of backup dancers to perform his hit “Gangnam Style.” His outfit, a sparkly black blazer and black harem pants, hinted at the surprise that would come later in the performance. When Psy rapped the hook to his song, the music was stopped and the lights dropped. Instead of saying “Oppan Gangnam Style” he said “Stop! Hammertime!” At that moment, the lights were brought up and MC Hammer was standing on the stage in all white. Suddenly, Hammer’s 1991 hit “2 Legit to Quit” started blasting and the pair danced together. Psy managed to keep up as Hammer did some of his famous moves from the 90s, including the typewriter. The performance brought a rousing applause from the crowd and cameramen spotted celebrities trying to do some of the moves. This is the second high-profile performance Psy has done within a week. He performed with Madonna last week and the two did a rendition of “Gangnam Style” in addition to Madonna’s hit song “Music.”
Another highlight of the show was Jenny McCarthy showing her inner cougar when she planted a smooch on Justin Bieber when he took the stage to accept an award. “Wow. I feel violated right now,” he joked. McCarthy said she just found Bieber irresistible. “I did grab his butt,” McCarthy said after the kiss. “I couldn’t help it. He was just so delicious. So little. I wanted to tear his head off and eat it.” Bieber was a bigger winner that night taking home three trophies, including Artist of the Year. To the young singer, that accomplishment is a slap in the face to his haters. “This is for all the haters who thought that maybe I was just here for one or two years. But, I feel like I’m gonna be here for a very long time,” he said during on of his acceptance speeches.
