'Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn – Part 2' Opens To An Impressive $71.2 Million

The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn – Part 2 kicked off its opening weekend in over 3,000 theaters, which were obviously packed with long lines because the movie claimed impressive numbers in the box office. While it didn’t set any Twilight records, it still managed to make it on the all time top list.

The Summit Entertainment finale to the adaptation of Stephenie Meyer’s supernatural vampire/wolf series, earned an estimated $71.2M from Thursday to Saturday morning. This makes Breaking Dawn-Part 2 the 6th highest grossing film in history, right behind Breaking Dawn-Part 1, which made $71.6 and New Moon, which made $72.7 million.

Breaking Dawn – Part 2 is expected to surpass Part 1, but won’t come anywhere near New Moon’s first weekend box office total of $142.8 million set in 2009. The studio predicts that the film will total over $135 million through the complete weekend.

To add to those domestic numbers, the film has grossed an estimated $162.2 million in the worldwide market.

Breaking Dawn – Part 2 received an A CinemaScore from audiences, so expect a large turnout through the coming weeks.
