Kevin Bacon has signed on to star in Fox’s upcoming show The Following. The new series is going to see the actor playing a FBI agent whose job is to hunt down serial killers all over the country.
According to a released report for the show, Bacon’s character will initially be focusing on one particular serial killer:
“When notorious serial killer JOE CARROLL (James Purefoy) escapes from death row and embarks on a new killing spree, the FBI calls former agent RYAN HARDY (Emmy Award nominee Kevin Bacon) to consult on the case. Having since withdrawn from the public eye, Hardy was responsible for Carroll’s capture in 2003, after Carroll murdered 14 female students on the Virginia college campus where he taught literature.”
The Following will also star Shawn Ashmore(X-Men), Natalie Zea(Justified) and Annie Parisse(Rubicon) and premieres January 21, 2012. Even though times have changed, cop shows are still pretty solid TV shows. With Kevin Bacon starring I’m pretty sure this series will definitely make it pass the pilot.
I have a feeling this show will make it far past the pilot too! After my coworker at DISH showed me the trailer for it the other day I can’t help but have high expectations for it; especially because of Kevin Bacon and James Purefoy. I guess I’ll just have to wait and find out come January! It looks like it’ll be a part of Fox’s primetime lineup too, so thankfully I won’t even have to try and remember, with my bad memory, to setup an individual recording timer for it. I just upgraded to a DISH Hopper DVR and have PrimeTime Anytime enabled (records all of the major networks primetime shows each night automatically), so I’m set! I can’t wait to see Kevin Bacon and James Purefoy on my TV screen every week! 🙂
