First Images of Ray Winstone in 'Noah' Surface

Plenty has been seen from Darren Aronofsky‘s Biblically epic film Noah, almost enough to leave fans wondering if the set is at all closed. Today, fans of the upcoming flick will be delighted in knowing that the first images of the film’s antagonist – played by Ray Winstone – have been released online via the Daily Mail.

Noah has given film fans a lot by today’s secretive standards in Hollywood. First, we were gifted Russell Crowe in full regalia as the title character, Logan Lerman (among others) in what appears to be post-apocalypse gear. Production shots of, well, something were also leaked. We’ve now come full circle in seeing Ray Winstone as Noah’s reported “nemesis”.

The veteran Ray Winstone is unmistakable in voice and appearance. He’s most known for his voice work in the Oscar winning Hugo and the lesser known Rango. He’s played notorious characters in the likes of The Departed (which also brought home some Oscars) as well as 2008’s Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull and last year’s Snow White and the Huntsman.

From all the pictures released, Noah looks considerably ambitious. For one, it doesn’t appear to be much of a period piece, and is reported to have 11-foot-tall fallen angels with six arms and no wings called Watchers. So yes, Aronofsky is taking a few creative liberties with the classic story.

Still, it’s quite interesting to see what Aronofsky – who brought audiences such creative works as Requiem for a Dream, The Wrestler, and Black Swan – can do with the ensemble cast he’s assembled combined with an overactive imagination. One can assume it’ll be more along the lines of The Fountain, who’s ambition seemed to be hit or miss with audiences.

While you’re speculating along with everyone else, be sure to check out these pics of Ray Winstone below. They’re quite macho.
