Just when folks thought Gangnam style couldn’t invade anything else, it has made its way onto “Dancing With The Stars” for the second installment of the show’s “Guilty Pleasure Week.”
Some of the remaining couples opened the show with a group dance to Korean rapper Psy’s “Gangnam Style,” the dance craze that has swept the world. Clad in a batch of brightly colored suits and sunglasses, the teams gave viewers a laugh as they tried their hand at Psy’s dance moves. As the dance progressed, the couples stripped off the suits and there was a slight wardrobe malfunction. Giles Marini and partner Peta Murgatroyd reenacted the sauna scene in the hit Youtube video and Marini’s towel dropped, revealing his tightie whities. He was a tad embarrassed after the whole ordeal. “What’s wrong with me?” he said jokingly to E! News. “It was weird in such a fun way. Hopefully we entertained everyone out there.” Marini’s partner thinks the dance was a hit. “I think it turned out pretty good,” said Murgatroyd.
A couple of the other contestants had some critiques. “It was one hot mess from start to finish,” Cheryl Burke said laughing. “We don’t need to get naked to have fun. We keep it classy!”
Her partner Emmitt Smith agreed. “It’s not like I ain’t got nothing to show off,” Smith said as he ripped open his shirt.
In addition to wardrobe slips, there were some bumps and bruises. Melissa Rycroft and Tony Dovolani performed a tango to Britney Spears’ “Toxic” despite Rycroft being injured during rehearsals. Rycroft was injured in her neck and had to be taken away in an ambulance. Still, she and Dovolani managed to get high marks from the judges; a nine out of ten from all three bringing their total to 27 points. Rycroft admitted that she had some difficulty during the dance. “Talk about a frustrating week. I was about to kick this tango’s butt,” Rycroft told E. “It came together. We kind of faked our way through it. I’m glad we got through this one and there shouldn’t be another neck dance! Right?”
Dovolani admires his partner for getting through the dance. “I am so motivated, she is the epic trooper,” he said about Rycroft. “I’m motivated in every aspect. This woman is not going to quit on anything. It was great, it was fantastic to be out there with her.”
Rycroft and her fellow contestants can rest easy this week since no one was eliminated.
