'Mama' Trailer Released

The new Spanish trailer for Guillermo Del Toro’s Mama has been released. This horror flick stars Jessica Chastain (The Help) as Annabel and Nikolaj Coster-Waldau (Game of Thrones) as Lucas.  Chastain and Coster-Waldau play a young couple receive custody of Lucas’s nieces after they are found alone in the woods, where they have been living as feral children for 5 years. The couple tries to assimilate the young girls into society, however soon find out they weren’t really living alone. As you can probably guess by the movies’ title, “Mama” is the  sinister creature that has been “raising” the girls and it doesn’t seem like she wants to give them up.

I have to say, I’m really amped on this film. First things first, Guillermo Del Toro is a boss. Pan’s Labyrinth is easily one of the most chillingly beautiful movies of all time (with a fantastic soundtrack, might I add). Del Toro also helped write the screenplay for the much anticipated The Hobbit trilogy. Don’t get me wrong, he doesn’t have a perfect record , Hellboy and Hellboy II are really nothing to brag about. Regardless of a few interesting choices, the man has proven he can help make a damn good movie. I personally think he’s about  to prove that he can also make a damn good horror movie.

I am finding it a little hard to imagine Jessica Chastain as a convincing goth, I just keep thinking of her in Alexander McQueen at the Oscars last year, as seen here. On the other hand, it should be fun to see Nikolaj Coster-Waldau play a role other than Jamie Lannister, for once we won’t have to hate him!

Hopefully Mama proves it’s worth the hype and revealing the monster won’t leave us laughing. Check out the trailer below!
