Does it takes two female comedians to dethrone one Ricky Gervais? Since we’re talking about and Amy Poehler, one would be more than enough. The reigning queens of NBC‘s Thursday night line-up can now add glamorous co-hosting on their to-do list. Monday night it was announced by the Hollywood Foreign Press Association that the two former SNL stars are officially set to co-host next year’s Golden Globe Awards in January 2013.
Both have made smooth transitions from their SNL days into sitcom success, Fey with “30 Rock” and Poehler in “Parks And Recreation.” In one fell swoop Fey and Poehler have elevated themselves to power couple status, a platonic comedy super-duo if you will, like Beyónce and Jay-Z or Brangelina.
Paul Telegdy, NBC Entertainment’s president of alternative and late-night programming, said in a statement: “Having both Tina Fey and Amy Poehler on board to host this year’s festivities is a major coup.” Two isn’t always better than one, but in this case the majority agrees, it’s ridiculously outstanding.
When you put these two together you get: ‘Mean Girls,’ ‘Baby Mama,’ and only the some of the finest “Weekend Update” sketches to grace the SNL soundstage. It’s going to be like watching a comedy all-star show. The Golden Globes are going comedy all-star in 2013, and this pair extraordinaire you won’t want to miss!
