Stacey Dash Responds To Romney Endorsement Backlash On Piers Morgan

Stacey Dash has successfully become the most hated black female republican over the course of five days for her endorsement of Republican presidential candidate Mitt Romney. The former “Single Ladies” star apparently thought she was exercising her right to freedom of speech when she tweeted a photo of herself in a red Baywatch-like swimsuit near what looks like a red rocket with the caption: “Vote for Romney. The only Choice for the future.”

What followed was a barrage of insults on Twitter from celebrities to non-celebrities. One jarring response in particular came from R&B singer John Legend’s fiancee, model, Chrissy Teigen. In an attempt to voice her own opinion on Stacey’s political leanings Teigen managed to also poke fun at someone’s mental disorder.

Legend’s fiance tweeted: ‘*Insert Clueless Joke Here*’, followed by, ‘At this rate, I won’t vote for Romney until Lisa Turtle tells me to. Although I think she thinks her shower is a voting booth these days.’ Really??? (Side note: Lark Voorhies who played Lisa Turtle on Saved by the Bell is reportedly battling Bipolar Disorder.)

Others included calls for the Clueless star to “Kill yourself” while others attempted to use her beauty as an excuse for her ignorance.

“You’re an unemployed black woman endorsing Mitt Romney. You’re voting against yourself thrice. You poor beautiful idiot.”

Not surprisingly Dash is taken aback by the vicious attacks. She told Piers Morgan,

“The fury, I really don’t understand the fury. I don’t understand it. I don’t get it… But you know what, you can’t expect everyone to agree with you.”

She explained she chose to endorse Romney “because of the state of the country, and I want the next four years to be different.” She added, “I believe him. I watched him, the Governor and his wife, on “Meet the Press.” They spoke to me, they seemed authentic and genuine.”

Dash added that the reaction to her endorsement has left her  “saddened and shocked, really shocked.””Really shocked. But you can’t expect everyone to agree with you.”
