It has been confirmed It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia star, Danny DeVito, and Cheers actress, Rhea Perlman, are separating after 30 years of marriage. The news was first heard on Entertainment Tonight, but there is no official statement as to why the couple are calling it quits.
Danny DeVito and Rhea Perlman first met in 1970 when Perlman went to see “The Shrinking Bride” in which DeVito was starring. The couple moved in with each other after only two weeks of dating. After 13 years, Perlman was even quoted in People magazine saying “you’d really have to work hard at breaking us up at this point.”. Neither expected that 17 years later they’d be going their separate ways. The couple have three children together. They acted together in the 70’s sitcom Taxi as well as on the silver screen in Matilda. They also own a production company Jersey Films which produced Erin Brockovich, Man on The Moon, and Pulp Fiction.
While celebrity break-ups are no new thing in Hollywood, this break up is heart wrenching since they were able to make it work for over three decades. It seems like no couple in Hollywood is safe from divorce.
