Christian Bale Reunited with David O. Russell

While he would most definitely argue something different, Christian Bale has become a household name through his collaboration with several upcoming and talented directors. In a wise choice, the iconic actor has chosen to reunite with one, David O. Russell.

After apparently dropping out of Russell’s upcoming project, reports have surfaced claiming Bale is on board Russell’s new film revolving around the Abscam stings in the 70s and 80s.  Stars such as Amy Adams, Jeremy Renner and Bradley Cooper are set to co-star.

The film – which has yet to be titled – is loosely based on true events while The International’s Eric Warren Singer penned its script.  It has been described as “being based on the true story of a financial con artist (Bale) and his mistress/partner in crime (Adams), who were forced to work with an out-of-control federal agent (Cooper) to turn the tables on other con artists, mobsters, and politicians. At the epicenter of the tale is the volatile leader of the New Jersey state assembly (Renner) who is also the local hero and mayor of impoverished Camden”.

What we do know is that if the Bale/Russell can manage to put together anything remotely close to The Fighter, accolades and rave reviews are sure to follow. Though reported to have bizarre directing methods, David O. Russell’s knack for working with a harem of stars has shown in the instances of I Heart Huckabees and this year’s Silver Linings Playbook.

As for Christian Bale, well, his work really does speak for itself. The actor is as versatile as a chameleon in spite of his supposed temper and ego. We’re more than excited to bring you more news as this new project comes to fruition.
