Sacha Baron Cohen To Develop New Film 'The Lesbian'

According to TheWrap.com, Sacha Baron Cohen and his production company, Four by Two, will develop a new film  for Paramount Pictures entitled The Lesbian. The idea stemmed from recent press surrounding a billionaire from Hong Kong who was willing to pay $65 million to any man who could land his daughter’s hand in marriage. The only catch? She’s a lesbian who recently married her longtime partner in Paris. Good luck gentlemen, your work is cut out for you.

Cohen is notorious for taking the latest, most absurd headlines and making them into hilariously offensive films. His latest venture, The Dictator, was based on the personal life of the late Colonel Moammar Qaddafi’, a Libyan dictator. Cohen’s other box office hits include 2006’s Borat and 2009’s Brüno. The films were about a fictitious Khazaki journalist named Borat and his exploits while traveling across America and a down on his luck Austrian fashion journalist, Brüno, who comes to America in search of a new start. These descriptions may sound tame, but don’t let them fool you – Cohen’s movies are nothing but tame.

After feeling sufficiently uncomfortable during Borat, I haven’t been back to see another of his films. Granted there was some occasional nervous laughter on my part, it just wasn’t my cup of tea. Maybe because I’m not a 17-year old boy? Anyway, Cohen’s ideas must resonate with some audience or else he wouldn’t keep getting movie deals. Hopefully for Cohen The Lesbian fares better than The Dictator did, that movie was a domestic box office flop.
