Soul Mates Alicia Keys and Swizz Beatz Campaign For Obama

Alicia Keys released an official campaign video for the Obama campaign today and shared her experiences raising her son and finding her soul mate, Swizz Beats.

As election time nears, celebrities have been hitting their own campaign trails in order to show support for their favorable presidential candidate.

In particular, President Obama seems to have a lot of celebrity support behind his campaign after Alicia Keys and Samuel Jackson both released official campaign videos in support of the president.

The mother of one used her video to give America a behind-the-scenes look at what a day is like on the campaign trail and did her best to encourage the public to make it out to the polls.

“I think that we as women have a really important obligation to utilize our voices to stand up for the man who will honor the things that we need as women,” Swizz Beat’s wife pointed out. “We’ve made so much progress over the years. Obviously, there’s not reason to go back.”

The new video is a part of the singer turned activist’s “Women for Obama” campaign which she uses not only to show her own support for Obama, but also to encourage others to not just think about the candidate but to think about the matters at hand.

And I personally, I’m an Obama supporter and I feel like he really does understand women’s issues,” Keys said in an interview with Ebony Magazine. “And he was raised by a super-strong woman, he married an incredible strong woman, he’s raising two incredibly strong women, so he’s personally connected to what is important with women’s issues.”

In addition to sharing her experiences on the campaign trail, the “Girl on Fire” crooner also shared her experiences being a mother and falling in love.

“Finding my soul mate, finding the love of my life has been a freeing experience because of the way we identify [with] each other and understand each other,” the women’s power advocate shared. “It’s so rare that you feel like you can be your whole self [with someone]. I can be my whole self, he can be his whole self. I don’t have to be half of myself, he doesn’t have to be half of himself.”

Keys went on to say that getting married to Swizz Beats has even taught her how to “be a little more [easy-going].”

But the 34-year-old hip hop producer isn’t the only man in Alicia’s life.

Her son, Egypt, has taught the soulful singer to appreciate the little things in life and find beauty in all of it.

“…having a baby, it’s like ‘Oh my gosh!’ It makes every – the smallest thing amazing,” she exclaimed. “Like the first time he’s discovering how to say the word ‘light.’ Like ‘light’ is the most exciting thing. And it’s kind of true! The light is amazing… for adults things become so routine, so mundane and for him he’s discovering things for the first time so it makes me see things in a new place.”

Between her care free husband and her 24-month-old son, the new designer for Reeboks is constantly being showered with love and apparently life lessons as well.
