Are you a Cleveland, Ohio resident? Do you like Captain America? If you answered yes to either one of these questions, clear your calendar for March 2013 because collider.com has revealed thats where the majority of filming for Captain America: The Winter Soldier will be taking place.
This is in all likehihood due to directors Joe and Anthony Russo being Cleveland natives and wishing to give their beloved home town a bit of love and business. The news came in the form of a press release courtesy of The Greater Cleveland Film Commission.
The press release directly states how Marvel exec Louis D’Esposito appreciates the “location, talent and people of Ohio,” and how they “are sure to benefit the film.” In addition, the press release revealed a bit of plot summary, stating Captain America: The Winter Soldier will pick up where Marvel’s The Avengers leaves off, as Steve Rogers struggles to embrace his role in the modern world.”
Frank G. Jackson, Mayor of Cleveland, Ohio, stated, “We are thrilled to host Marvel and the filming of Captain America: The Winter Soldier in 2013. We have worked diligently with the Greater Cleveland Film Commission to make our city an attractive location for films of all sizes. Marvel’s return to Cleveland shows we can provide a film-friendly atmosphere that will ultimately lead to a permanent presence of the film industry in Northeast Ohio.”
In addition to Cleveland, Ohio, Captain America: The Winter Soldier will also be shooting on stage in California and on location in New Mexico. So New Mexico residents, be aware and check for updates!
