Courtesy of Yahoo! Movies, a new red-band trailer and movie poster has been released for the upcoming horror film Sinister.
Sinister has already released a green-band trailer earlier this summer, showcasing Ethan Hawke as Ellison, a true-crime novelist who discovers hidden 8mm footage documenting how and why an entire family was murdered.
While the original Sinister trailer was downright frightening, this new trailer is dialogue free and relies on creating an atmosphere of complete doom and gloom. Sounds involving Hawke’s movements and a creepy soundtrack do this in ways normal dialogue simply can’t. Plus, there’s jump-scares galore. So many, in fact, that it may not even be necessary to see the entire film.
Sinister is directed by Scott Derrickson who is known for 2005’s The Exorcism of Emily Rose and – unfortunately – 2008’s The Day the Earth Stood Still remake. However, as Sinister has been making festival rounds, Derrickson has been commissioned to three new projects in 2013.
Along with the new Sinister trailer, a new movie poster has also been released highlighting the reoccurring face seen in both the green-band and red-band trailer. It looks more like a metal band’s album cover more than anything, but maybe it’ll grow on us.
WARNING: Before watching the trailer, be aware it is a red-band R-rated trailer that is not shy in its use of profanity or shocking images. While that will probably make you want to watch it more, still consider yourself warned. Enjoy!
