Courtesy of Yahoo!News, Disney has released the trailer for Wreck-It Ralph, a new animated feature showcasing the voice-over talents of John C. Reilly, Jack McBrayer, Sarah Silverman and Jane Lynch.
Wreck-It Ralph follows Ralph, voiced by Reilly, a destructive villain from the popular video game ‘Fix-It Felix’. After finding out how ill-intended his role in the game is, Ralph decides to leave ‘Fix-It Felix’ for a more heroic role in another game. The trailer shows a Halo-style first-person shooter called ‘Hero’s Duty’ as Ralph’s main choice. Of course, this upsets the equilibrium of his original game and puts the other inhabitants at risk.
The nostalgia factor seems to be off the charts for Wreck-It Ralph. In the trailer alone, you can spot famous faces accross multiple platforms and gaming eras. If you grew up playing videogames in the ’80s and ’90s, there WILL be a reference for you.
The film will also be Disney’s fifth attempt at a computer-animated feature without Pixar, following Chicken Little, Meet the Robinsons, Bolt and Tangled. Hopefully, with the vast amount of source material, Wreck-It Ralph will be able to set itself apart and establish a new standard. While most animation teams specialize in computer-animated features, this can often be far more difficult than it sounds.
The Rich Moore directed film will not hit theatres until November 2. Until then, enjoy the trailer below!
