Eddie Murphy’s revamped Beverly Hills Cop TV show may have already found a home with CBS. The Oscar nominated actor is expected to reprise his role as Axel Foley but several years in the future as Police Chief of the Detroit Police Department and his son Aaron will take the lead role as a detective.
According to Vulture, CBS has picked up the remake, which will be produced by “The Shield’s” Shawn Ryan.
Ryan seems very excited to take on the project. “I always loved the movies, the character of Axel and the juxtaposition of blue collar Midwest vs. Beverly Hills wealthy,” Ryan said to Hit Fix. “Having the opportunity to explore this in television and especially to write for Eddie Murphy is an opportunity I couldn’t turn down. Eddie is very excited about this and pumped to play Axel again.”
Other shows getting a go-ahead include Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson’s The Hero. TNT has given the greenlight to the new reality-competition series that will set out to find the next great hero out of 10 contestants. The show will reportedly follow the contestants as they receive several challenges that will test their “brains, their brawn and even their morality.”
The final hero will be chosen through social media. Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson will headline the competition and serve as an executive-produce. The series is set to premiere on TNT in summer 2013.
