A few weeks ago, rumors hit the internet of Jim Carrey possibly joining the cast of Kick Ass 2: Balls to the Wall. Now, it seems as though all the talk may come into fruition.
Although not officially confirmed by the studio, director Jeff Wadlow posted a tweet hinting that he has “officially” cast Carrey for a role in Kick Ass 2. In the tweet over this past weekend, Wadlow stated that Kick Ass 2 has found its Colonel and added a familiar Jim Carrey quote along with message. The enthused director tweeted, “6 days till we start shooting… and we officially have our Colonel. Alrighty f’n then! @ChloeGMoretz @MintzPlasse @donald_faison #kickass2”
He didn’t actually say Jim Carrey’s name in the tweet, but if one was to guess by the phase “alrighty f’d then,” it may be a big indication that the Hollywood star has joined the project. The familiar quote is from Carrey’s Ace Ventura: Pet Detective days.
Kick Ass 2 is a film which will feature an ensemble cast of superhero characters that will fight crime. The gang will go toe-to-toe with The Red Mist, an enemy character who gathered a team of his own “supervillains,” in order to defeat both Kick-Ass and Hit-Girl.
Carrey will join a pretty impressive cast including Donald Faison, Morris Chestnut, Aaron Johnson, Moretz, Christopher Mintz-Plasse, Nicolas Cage and John Leguizamo.
Kick Ass 2 is slated for release in the summer of 2013.
