It’s Official, Joss Whedon will be supervising the S.H.I.E.L.D production as it settles into its new home at ABC. The network has ordered a pilot that will follow the day to day activities of the Strategic Homeland Intervention Enforcement and Logistics Division. It was the government organization in the film created to defend the earth from unusual threats. It’s rumored, the show will take place pre-Avengers, so don’t expect to see any Assembly from the superheroes in the movie. However, Specific details of the plot remain unknown at this time.
This is becoming a family affair with Whedon bringing his brother and sister in law Jed and Maurissa Whedon on board as writers and producers. Jeffery Bell is also attached as a producer. Early details calls for Whedon to direct the pilot, but that’s only possible if The Avengers Sequel,a film he is also writing and directing, doesn’t conflict.
No only did Whedon write and direct The Avenger (the third highest grossing film in the world) he also has plenty of experience in the TV world producing shows such as Buffy The Vampire Slayer, Angel, and Dollhouse, So it was an obvious no-brainer for studio executive to enlisting Joss Whedon as showrunner.
What do you think about Marvel bringing S.H.I.E.L.D. to TV?
