Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbale Takes on 'Thor: The Dark World' With Two Roles

Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbale is set to join the cast of Thor: The Dark World to play the role of two villains. Well, kind off.

The action star, who we know pulls off a good villain (Simon Adebisi in Oz), will portray the characters Algrim the Strong and Kurse, who are like two characters in one. Algrim is one of the strongest of the Dark Elves, an evil race lead by Malekith (Christopher Eccleston).

After being betrayed by Malekith during an almost fatal battle with Thor, a severely injured Algrim suffers memory loss. He is healed by the Beyonder and given more special powers to defeat Thor in hand-to-hand combat.

Algrim as portrayed in the animated series ‘Thor: Tales of Asgard’

Directed by Alan Taylor, Thor: The Dark World brings back almost the entire cast from the original. Of course, Chris Hemsworth returns as Thor. Tom Hiddleston will reprise his Loki role, while Anthony Hopkins returns as Odin. Ray Stevenson and Tadanobu Asano will also come back as part of the Warriors Three, but Zachary Levi will take over Josh Dallas’ role as Fandral. Other returning actors include Jaimie Alexander (Sif), Idris Elba (Heimdall), Kat Dennings (Darcy), Natalie Portman (Jane), and Stellan Skarsgard (Dr. Erik Selvig).

Thor: The Dark World should be very interesting especially with Taylor at its helm. His work on “Game Of Thrones” makes him a really good match for the Marvel film.

There is one caveat though, Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbale will likely have to give up his desire to play The Black Panther now that he’s secured the Algrim role.

Thor: The Dark World arrives in theaters November 8, 2013.

Kurse was originally the dark elf known as Algrim The Strong. He first appeared in Thor #347
