Yet again, another man has entered the movie theaters with a loaded hand gun. While watching The Bourne Legacy, at a Century 14 movie theater in Sparks, Nevada, a 56-year-old man accidentally shot himself in the buttocks. “The gun he had brought into the theater discharged,” police dispatch said.
Luckily, no one else was injured when the went off. The police received calls reporting that there had been shots fired in the cinema at around 8:40 p.m. Tuesday night, according to reports.
“Witnesses inside the theater at the time the shot was fired stated that a (man) was adjusting himself in his seat when a gun he had on him discharged,” Sparks police Sgt. Pay Dyer said in statement.
After the shot, the man immediately got up, apologized to moviegoers next to him, and went to a Reno hospital, where he received treatment for a wound not considered life-threatening.
“The (man) was cooperative with police and admitted that his gun fell out of his pocket and when it hit the floor it discharged,” Dyer said in the police statement. “There was no panic in the theater as only five people heard the shot out of the approximate 30 people in attendance.”
The man holds a valid permit to carry and conceal a firearm.
