Usain Bolt does not seem to be shy person – indeed, he seems to bask in the attention being the fastest man in the world brings – and when he showed up to the Expendables 2 premiere on Monday, he was almost the star of the show.
Bolt, who took home three gold medals in this year’s Olympics for Jamaica, struck his famous “lightning bolt” pose in front of cameras at the UK premiere for the movie Expendables star Jason Statham even joined in on the fun and posed with Bolt.
In addition to Statham, other stars of the action-packed sequel also made appearances. Sylvester Stallone showed up with his wife and three daughters, his first appearance since the death of his son Sage last month. Arnold Schwarzenegger, Jean-Claude Van Damme and Dolph Lundgren were also present.
When the attention was not on Bolt, the movie stars drew a crowd. Schwarzenegger said enjoyed his time on the set and admitted it was an adjustment after being out of the movie business for eight years while serving as governor of California.
“Everyone on the set was very helpful. . . . They actually went a bit overboard thinking that I don’t know how to hold a gun anymore,” he said at the premiere. “But at the same time we were very competitive. Because of watching them, I tried to step it up.”
Although this movie opened today in the UK and won’t open in the United States until Friday, there are already plans for another movie and one new cast member has been confirmed. “We’ve got Nicolas Cage to play [one of the characters],” said producer Avi Lerner. “And we’re going to bring Mickey Rourke back, if he won’t be too crazy. I like Mickey. And of course, all the existing stars [will return].”
Lerner also has a few other stars in mind. “[We want] Wesley Snipes when he comes back from prison,” he added. “I have started to speak to Clint Eastwood and Harrison Ford. I’m not sure about Steven Seagal, we’ll see.”
