R&B vet R. Kelly who’s ex-wife is starring on Hollywood Exes has confirmed the cancellation of his upcoming “Love Letter” cruise due to lack of payment.
The cruise was planned to start on October 1 and was supposed to sail from Miami to the Bahamas and on to Turk and Caicos. “R. Kelly had been looking forward to the cruise and was ready, willing and able to perform for fans,” his representative told TMZ. “He is sorry for any disappointment but plans to see his fans very soon on a U.S. tour.”
Many fans had paid for the five-day excursion and were disappointed when learning of the cancellation. Concerts Cruise, the company behind the event, has declined to comment on the issue. But it did indicate it would issue refunds to fans who had paid. Also, booking on the “Love Letter” website has been discontinued.
Here’s the thing: the promoter messed it up for more than just R. Kelly. There were a number of bands that were going to receive nice exposure to the main draw’s fans. Those acts included Walter Jones, Albert Torres, and the Spanish Harlem Orchestra.
If Kelly did not get paid in advance as was required, surely those performers were unpaid as well.
