Planet’s fastest man and the #1 attraction of the London Olympics, Jamaican sprinter Usain Bolt competed with his Olympic teammate and training partner Yohan Blake, and defended his title from Beijing, winning the gold medal once again in the 100 meter dash Olympic final, that too by setting a new world record with 9.63 seconds. At the much-hyped race, Yohan Blake who defeated Bolt in Jamaican Olympic trials, was the only sprinter to run with an ultra-lightweight Richard Mille tourbillion prototype on his wrist, and became Richard Mille’s newest sporting ambassador, along with professional golfer Bubba Watson, the Brazilian Formula One racing driver Felipe Massa, and the tennis champ Rafael Nadal, who is known for often losing his Richard Mille watches.
Interestingly, the name of the fastest sprinter to wear the Richard Mille wristwatch was all skeptical, until Yohan Blake was spotted wearing it during the 100 meter dash at the London Olympic final. However, full details of this wristwatch boasting the Jamaican colorway of black, green and yellow are still not expected to be made by its maker, Richard Mille, until after the Olympics, due to Olympic policy regarding endorsements.
But, the brand has however stated that its partnership with the sprinter will remain in place through 2013 while the brand develops a new caliber.
Earlier this year, Hublot also created a special edition King Power timepiece especially dedicated to the five times World and four-times Olympic gold medalist Usain Bolt. Hublot created the watch with the input from Honorable Usain St. Leo Bolt himself, who reportedly stated that the watch ‘be a fusion of the symbols representing everything he hold dear.’
We have also earlier seen that Bolt’s running spikes auctioned for $39,000 at a live online charity auction hosted by the University of Birmingham.
