Christopher Eccleston has just learned that he will play the villain in Thor 2. The actor will star as Malekith, a supervillain and ruler of the Dark Elves.
Malekith possesses superhuman intellect, strength, speed, stamina, reflexes and has the ability to morph into other identities. God-like in nature, his powers equal those of the hammer wielding Thor.
The film entitled Thor: The Dark World, will be directed by Alan Taylor and has Chris Hemsworth reclaiming his role as the title character. Natalie Portman, Tom Hiddleston, Anthony Hopkins and Idris Elba are also back to reprise their roles.
Eccleston’s previous films include Gi Joe:The Rise Of Cobra; Amelia; and TV film Lennon Naked.
Marvel Pictures has a scheduled release date for Thor: The Dark World for November 8, 2013.
