For such a small country Jamaica seems to be very popular across the globe. The people from the Island which made the catch phase ‘Yeah Mon’ famous, has exported their culture, religion, music, language, and also a certain herb across the world and many have taken notice.
Many people may be just intrigued by the Jamaican people and their culture. Rapper Snoop Dogg has recently visited Jamaica where he met with a high Rastafari priest, who told him he was no longer a ‘Dogg,’ but was instead ‘a lion.’ Thereafter, the Rasta named the rapper Snoop Lion. The religious man also told Lion that he always lived with the spirit Rastafari in him and its time to bring it to light.
Snoop must have been inspired by the Rastas, after leaving the priest he expressed that he believed that he’s Bob Marley reincarnated and pledged to bring it to fruition. Thus, the rapper has committed to make a reggae album and a film documenting his journey to Jamaica, which he referred to as his “home land.”
The documentary, named Reincarnated, is an official selection of the 2012 Toronto International Film Festival. The film follows Snoop Lion as he travels to Jamaica to record an album. During his visit, he finds himself submerged in Jamaican culture and is positively impacted by the people and Rastafarians. Thus, he becomes reincarnated as the honorable Snoop Lion.
