Venisha Brown, the daughter of late soul legend James Brown, has been accused of stealing an SUV and injuring her boss in the process.
According to authorities, Brown stole her boss’s SUV and injured her outside of a North Augusta, Ga. bank. Brown reportedly stole the Chevy Suburban from her boss Hope Campbell. Campbell told police that she spotted Brown driving her truck and tried to gain control of the vehicle by taking the keys out of the ignition.
When Campbell tried to take control of the vehicle Brown allegedly accelerated, dragging the woman in to and over the hood of a nearby parked car. Campbell was transported to a hospital by ambulance to treat her injuries.
The two women work together at St. Stephens Ministry of Augusta Inc., an organization dedicated to providing housing for persons with HIV/AIDS.
Richmond County deputies recovered the SUV on the street early Tuesday morning. Brown was later charged with possession of a stolen vehicle in Richmond County, and is wanted by North Augusta authorities on charges of possession of a stolen vehicle, leaving the scene of an accident, and first-degree assault and battery.
Brown, one of Brown’s nine children, remains in police custody. James Brown died in 2006.
