Headline chewing actor Alec Baldwin is seriously considering a run for mayor of New York City, according to his brother, actor Billy Baldwin.
In an interview on CNN with Piers Morgan after Alec’s wedding to Hilaria Thomas, Billy Baldwin said his brother was serious and also might be qualified. Maybe.
“I think he’s very committed and extremely bright and knowledgeable and I think he could do it and he could run,” Billy Baldwin said. “On the other hand, I’m not quite sure if he’s cut from the proper cloth because it requires a lot of tolerance and a lot of patience and …”
Yeah, about the famous Alec Baldwin temper, which seems to erupt into sensational headlines every few years. After all, it wasn’t that long ago since Alec was thrown off an L.A.-to-New York American Airlines flight last year because he wouldn’t stop playing Words with Friends on his smartphone when the plane was preparing to take off—an incident Baldwin makes fun of in his latest commercial for Capital One credit cards. And then there was Baldwin appearing to punch a paparazzi photog in the face. And Baldwin a few years back saying a stream of horrendous things to his daughter in a voicemail message. Alec himself admits in the current issue of Vanity Fair that he’s volatile.
Morgan addressed the issue with Billy.
Billy responded that John McCain and Rudy Giuliani are hot-headed, too, and they’re both successful pols.
If Ronald Reagan could run the country, perhaps Baldwin could run New York. After all, he’s a much better actor than Reagan was.
