The Hunger Games: Catching Fire is currently in the works, and the casting of new characters are now in the process. According to sources, Jena Malone will play Johanna Mason, a role that will also continue into The Hunger Games: Mockingjay. The new film is expected to split into two sections, released in 2013 and 2014.
The Hunger Games: Catching Fire is an adaptation of Suzanne Collins second novel about Katniss Everdeen and the peasants of Panem’s continued struggle against the awful Capitol. In the book, Katniss in forced back into the Hunger Games to fight for her life a second time. Johanna Mason is one of her competitors, and though a relatively minor figure in the books, she is major character to her fans because of her upbeat nature and crazy humor.
The movie is scheduled start filming this September with Francis Lawrence directing with a November 22, 2013 release.
