Bucs Eric Wright Arrested On DUI Charge

Tampa Bay Bucaneers cornerback Eric Wright was arrested on a DUI charge in Los Angeles early this morning, the Los Angeles Times reported.

Wright, who signed a five-year, $37.5 million free-agent contract with the Bucs this offseason, was arrested and charged with suspicion of felony driving under the influence after his Mercedes and a Chevy pickup truck were involved in an accident near the Staples Center, the newspaper reported.

Police responded to the scene at around 12:20 a.m PT, a spokeswoman told the newspaper. The driver of the pickup said he was in pain but refused medical treatment, the Times reported. Wright was not injured in the accident.

The 26-year-old Wright told officers he had been drinking earlier in the night at a friend’s house and refused to take a Breathalyzer test and field sobriety test, according to the newspaper.

Wright was charged with a felony since an injury occurred in the accident. He was released on $100,000 bond Monday morning. He is next scheduled to appear in court on July 23.
