'Longmire' Gets Renewed For A Second Season

A&E has recently renewed Longmire for a second season, only a few weeks after its series premiere.

The western-themed show premiered Sunday, June 3 at 10 p.m. achieving a strong mark of 4.1 million total viewers. That feat made it the year’s top new scripted cable drama. The subsequent show grew 22 percent in the 18-49 demographic, with 1.2 million viewers in that demographic.

Longmire is based on character Walt Longmire, the Sheriff of Absaroka County, Wyoming, as he returns to work following the death of his wife. After his return, Walt must investigate a series of major crimes in his jurisdiction with the help of his daughter Cady, his new deputy Vic and his best friend Henry. The sheriff also has to prepare to run for re-election against another young deputy who wants his job.

Longmire is an A&E Network drama television series that premiered on June 3, 2012 on A&E.[1] The series was created by John Coveny and Hunt Baldwin and is based on the “Longmire” series of mystery novels written by best-selling author Craig Johnson. Following early success as the highest rated summer scripted drama debut, and as A&E’s highest rated scripted drama.

Longmire airs Sunday 10pm EST. on A&E.
