50 Cent: Bulletproof SUV Saved Me In Car Accident

50 Cent recovering after Car Accident; Bullet Proof SUV saved his life.

Update: Riding around in a bulletproof SUV might seem a bit eccentric for some, but after getting shot nine times in 2000, moving around with that type of security became a standard for 50 Cent. Well, it seems the special sports utility vehicle may have saved Fif from serious injury after his car accident on Tuesday morning.

“We spun off into the rail. We would’ve flipped if it was a regular truck, but the truck weighs over a ton because it has additional stuff in it,” 50 Cent told MTV News on Friday (June 29) in an exclusive interview.

The G-Unit CEO’s vehicle was rear-ended while driving down the Long Island Expressway in New York. While Fif’s condition was still unknown at the time, pictures of him on a stretcher with a neck brace were published on his This Is 50 website. The “In Da Club” MC insists that he is fine, but he and his driver were taken to a hospital.

“We were just riding down the LIE and a Mack Truck — he said he lost control of the vehicle later to police officers because his load shifted,” 50 explained. “He tried to brake, his load shifted, and he lost control and he ran into the back of the truck. It did more damage to the Mack Truck than it did to my truck, ’cause I got a level six; it’s a bulletproof vehicle. It’s the same standard as what they’re moving Obama around in.”

Besides a little stiffness the next day, Fif assured us that he is doing good. What seemed more troublesome to him was the critics who charged that the multi-platinum MC and music mogul used the accident as a publicity stunt to drum up excitement for his new album Five (Murder by Numbers), which he is releasing next week, on July 3.

“Trust me, I have enough money to not hit myself with a Mack Truck to try to get a few dollars,” he said. “What’s the thought process on this? It makes no sense to me.”

In addition to preparing for the release of his new album, the rapper recently appeared on MTV’s Jersey Shore spinoff The Pauly D Project, in which star Paul “DJ Pauly D” Delvecchio signed to his G-Note Records label.
