Alicia Keys and her husband Swizz Beatz are hoping to have a hit on their hands with a reggae inspired tune called “New Day”. The Swizz produced track will be included on Alicia’s upcoming album which Alicia can’t wait to share with her fans. She revealed in a video to her fans earlier this week, “I am hungry, I am an animal right now. I am just ready to be set free in a whole other way,” she said. “When it comes to sharing this music with you, I am like a caged animal that’s dying to escape.”
The album has reportedly taken 8 months to record – a stark contrast to contemporary artist who release a new album complete with promotion all in 9 months – we’re looking at you Rihanna.
Alicia also said her video,
“It’s like I’m a different person, a new person,” she explains. “Everything is new, from being married and having a baby, and what that’s done for me in just giving me a sense of real stability, real connection, grounding, reason, and purpose. So much of the music that you’re going to hear is talking about what that feels like, what we’re all going through, all of us … That empowerment, that freedom is definitely something that’s reflected in this album.”
