Celtics Awarded Draft Pick In Jeff Green Rift

Young forward Jeff Green  was traded by the Oklahoma City Thunder at the deadline last year in a deal that sent him and Nenad Krstic to Boston and Nate Robinson and Kendrick Perkins to OKC. The Celtics were excited about Green’s youth and versatility.

They re-signed Green, 25, last summer. However, he failed his physical because of a heart condition and was forced to miss the entire season following surgery. Boston did not take kindly to the situation and complained that Green’s condition was something OKC knew of but did not reveal.

Apparently, the NBA agreed and granted the Celtics a 2013 second-round pick from  Oklahoma City, according to Yahoo! Sports.

According to the report, the Thunder are sending a second-round pick that they own via the Bobcats.

Boston could have used Green’s diverse offensive skills in its playoff run that ended in Game 7 of the Eastern Conference finals against the eventual-champion Miami Heat.

Green is an unrestricted free agent this offseason and is expected to be healthy and ready to play the 2012-13 season
