Funny Trailer For 'Black Dynamite' The Adult Swim Cartoon Released

The Black Dynamite film has earned its own animated TV adaptation. The 2009 film, which stars Michael Jai White as the lead character, was directed by Scott Sanders and originally premiered at the Sundance Film Festival in Utah.

White’s character was a former CIA agent and Vietnam vet who dedicated himself to battling drug dealers in his community after the death of his younger brother.

Black Dynamite is an American blaxploitation homage comedy. The action film starred White, Salli Richardson, Arsenio Hall, Kevin Chapman and Tommy Davidson. It is a spoof of the 1970s blaxploitation films.

The movie, which was filmed in 20 days and shot in Super 16 Color, was also co-written by White, Sanders and Byron Minns, who also co-starred.

The new animated TV show is from the same production team who produces The Boondocks. White will voice his character from the film, along with Byron Minns, Tommy Davidson and Kym Whitley.

Black Dynamite is slated to premiere on Adult Swim Sunday, July 15th at 11:30pm.
