Hugh Laurie has a new job. After retiring his cane and stethoscope, the actor is in talks to play top villain in Sony’s remake of the 1987 sci-fi action film Robocop.
Laurie will play the ultra rich CEO of Omnicorp, the company responsible for making Robocop. In the original, his name was Dick Jones, but no word whether he will have the same name.
Directed by Jose Padiha, the film stars Joel Kinnaman as Alex Murphy, the injured cop brought back from the brink of death and turns into the cyborg cop. Gary Oldman has recently been cast as the scientist/creator of Robocop as well as Samuel L. Jackson, who is set to play a powerful media mogul named Pay Novak.
Laurie is famous for his long running show on FOX called House. The show lasted for eight seasons, acquiring five Emmy nominations in the process.
The Robocop remake will hit theaters late next year.
