Marlon Wayans Leaves 'Scary Movie' Franchise To Make His Own Titled Comedy

After Harvey Weinstein snatched the Wayans family’s successful Scary Movie franchise and passed it over to Roll Bounce director Malcolm Lee, Marlon Wayans took to making his own all-new horror franchise to leave as a family legacy.

Marlon joined forces with Scary Movie 2 and White Chicks producer Rick Alvarez to draft up a script for a “found footage” comedy previously titled Smart Ass.

The synopsis is as follows:

From the creators of Scary Movie comes another hilarious horror spoof, a parody of the Paranormal Activity franchise. When newlyweds Malcolm (Marlon Wayans) and Kisha (Essence Atkins) move into their dream house, they quickly find they’re not alone. But it’s not the house that’s haunted, but his wife that is possessed with spirits – or as Malcolm calls it – “relationship baggage”.  Malcolm hires everyone from a priest to modern day ghost busters to rid her of the demon, determined not to let the evil spirit ruin his marriage… or his sex life for that matter.

Marlon Wayans will co-direct with Mike Tiddes and co-star with Cedric the Entertainer and Essence Atkins.

More details to come.
