Three people were killed in a terrorist attack in Jos, Nigeria, when a car suicide bomber detonated a bomb outside of church on Sunday.
In addition to the three deaths, more than 40 people were wounded. Jos, a town that sits on the border between a Christian southern region and a Muslim north, has a history of conflict.
There is no specific group that has taken responsibility for the attack but Boko Haram, a small radical Islamic sect, is suspected to be behind it. This group is allegedly responsible for the deaths of over 500 people. The members tend to target churches and security buildings like police stations, according to the Associated Press. Suicide car bombs are one of their common methods.
The activities of the Boko Haram have led to increased tension between Christians and Muslims in Nigeria. They have taken responsibility for a drive-by shooting of police officers that resulted in three deaths.
