Cissy Houston Agrees To Discuss Whitney Houston's Drug Use In Memoir

Whitney Houston Memoir – Cissy Houston has an agreement with HarperCollins for a memoir detailing facts about the gospel singer’s Grammy Award-winning daughter Whitney Houston from her drug use to her enormous talent.

The announcement came Monday that the now-untitled “unabridged” book will be released February 2013.

“When I lost my daughter Nippy (Whitney Houston’s nickname), the world lost one of the most beautiful voices and an extraordinarily beautiful and charitable woman,” Cissy Houston said in a statement released by HarperCollins. “In sharing our story in this book, I hope to give her fans something to treasure, the way we all treasured Whitney. We are still receiving thousands of letters each day from her fans, and I hope reading this book will provide a deeper understanding into my daughter’s true story.”

While the financial terms have not been disclosed, some of the proceeds will be donated to the “I Will Always Love You” singer’s long-time church, New Hope Baptist Church, where her funeral was also held.

Some terms about the book have been disclosed however. Cissy will write candidly about her daughter’s remarkable career and will touch her low points as well—her infamous drug problems and tumultuous marriage to singer Bobby Brown while reflecting her own grief.

“She will tell the unabridged and unbelievable story of her daughter’s life as well as her own, addressing Whitney’s brightest and darkest moments while helping fans around the world understand the complexities of this extraordinary star who died much too soon,” the publisher announced.

What do you make of Cissy writing a book about her deceased daughter?
