Aaron Sorkin has been hired to write the movie for Sony Pictures’s biopic about Steve Jobs. The studio announced yesterday that the film will be based on Walter Issacson’s biography of the Apple co-founder.
Last year in October, Jobs died after a battle with cancer. This is a different Steve Jobs’ biopic from the indie project starring Ashton Kutcher.
Reports surfaced that Sony paid $1 million for the rights to the biography, buying it just a few days after the mogul died. According to Publisher’s Weekly, the book sold 2.2 million copies last year and was Amazon’s best-selling title of 2011.
One reviewer of the book, Michael S. Rosenwald from The Washington Post wrote, “Isaacson has crafted a biography of a complicated, peculiar personality — Jobs was charming, loathsome, lovable, obsessive, maddening — and the author shows how Jobs’s character was instrumental in shaping some of the greatest technological innovations of our time.”

Sorkin is an Oscar award-winning writer whose works include The Social Network, A Few Good Men, The American President, The West Wing, Sports Night, Studio 60 on the Sunset Strip, Charlie Wilson’s War, and Moneyball.
