'The Avengers' Sits On Top; Johnny Depp's 'Dark Shadows' Underperforms

The Avengers takes the box office’s #1 spot for another weekend, beating out the opening for Johnny Depp’s Dark  Shadows. The superhero flick is on track to making $100 million for its second weekend out.  On Friday alone, the film raked in another $29 million, plus another $21 million overseas – upping the overall cumulative haul to $853.4 million.

Dark Shadows, starring Johnny Depp, didn’t impress as much, making $9.7 million from 3,755 theaters on Friday.  Its opening numbers puts the film on track to a $3o million gross range. Thats comparatively low for the the Tim Burton/Depp collaboration. Audiences gave it only a B- CinemaScore

Sony’s Think Like A Man is still performing unexpectedly well, making another $1.5 million from 2,o52 screens on Friday, which raised its total domestic take to $77 million.
