World Champion Yohan Blake blazed to a season best 9.84 seconds (+0.5ms wind) to win the men’s 100m at the first Cayman International track and field meet at the Tuman Bodden Sports Complex in Georgetown last evening.
Blake, who ran a world leading 19.91 seconds to win the 200m at the JN Jamaica International Invitational on Saturday, was just two hundredths of a second outside Usain Bolt’s 9.82 seconds done on Saturday and his own personal best.
Blake’s compatriot Michael Frater was second in 10.05 seconds ahead of Trinidad’s Keston Bledman- 10.06 seconds.
Blake’s training partner Warren Weir was a shock winner of the 200m in a new personal best, 20.13 seconds, after running 20.21 seconds on Saturday.
World leader Novlene Williams Mills won the women’s 400m in 50.35 seconds after running 49.99 seconds on Saturday while Hansle parchment continued his good early season showing by winning the 110m hurdles in 13.31 seconds.
American Carmelita Jeter won the women’s 100m in 11.04 seconds.
