Warner Bros. just released the trailer for the shoot’em up crime drama Gangster Squad.
The story takes place 1949 in Los Angeles, where Brooklyn born mob king Mickey Cohen is in full control of the city. He is making a large sum of money from drugs, guns, prostitution and every numbers racket west of Chicago. He does this all with the protection of his violent goons, corrupt police, and politicians who are on his pay roll. After his criminal success, a small team of LAPD outsiders who have not subscribed to his corruptions, will come together to bring down the city’s most dangerous mafia boss of all time.
The film stars Josh Brolin, Ryan Gosling, Nick Nolte, Robert Patrick, Michael Peña, Giovanni Ribisi, Anthony Mackie, Emma Stone, and Sean Penn.
Gangster Squad is directed by Ruben Fleischer who also directed Zombieland, and 30 Minutes Or Less. This will be his first feature without Jesse Eisenberg and his second outing with Stone. It is scheduled for release later this year.
