Jon Hamm Lands Leading Role In Disney’s ‘Million Dollar Arm’

Jon Hamm has landed his first leading role on the big screen.

The Mad Men star has been picked to play the lead in Disney’s Million Dollar Arm, where he will play sports agent J.B. Bernstein, who discovers Rinku Singh and Dinesh Patel, (a pair of Major League Baseball pitching prospects) in unconventional territory, India.

After growing tired of the usual baseball scouting in America, Bernstein realizes while watching a cricket game on TV, that major league baseball players could be discovered in the sport.

He then creates a reality TV show in India, with the intention of finding a person who could throw a baseball the fastest. He brings the two back to America and eventually signs them to a major league contract with the Pittsburgh Pirates.

Hamm has had success as Don Draper on Mad Men for five seasons, but he has had a tougher time translating his talent to the big screen. However, he’s played supporting roles in features The Day the Earth Stood Still, The Town and Bridesmaids.

More details coming soon regarding the film’s production start date…
